My order arrived on time but the plants were too young to be planted in ground, I put them in a small pot for this year.

I’m giving it 3.5 stars. I ordered three American Hazelnut trees. Packaging was great but they came with some of the roots a little dry. I stuck them in some mulch, until ground planted, and watered the mulch to rehydrate. They are very small stemmed trees when I had received them. I planted them mid-April 2022. I waited to leave a review because I wanted to see how they would do. A little over a month later and two of the three have leaves on the entire stem, which is between 12”-18” overall. The third one is still producing leaves but only the bottom half is growing while the top half remains bare. I’m hoping that this one will turn around and I expect it to as the American hazelnut is a pretty hardy tree. I have mulched around the trees and put a metal chicken fence around them to protect them. I will update my review, if I can, with a higher rating once I give them a bit more time. I’ll also try and update with a picture.
That said, at 3.5 stars I will purchase again from Food Forest Nursery and I would recommend them to friends and family that are looking for anything. I have my eye on Sumac for next year!

not all leafed out yet , but still early

Purchased to replace trees from another vendor that didn’t survive a very mild New England winter
These were less than half the cost but were much larger and healthier.
